Turns out it is through the pins on the Mario figure and where they slot in to the suit tells the figure which suit he has on. Nice addition to a course but mean you will run out of time as you can't get Mario out of his standard suit in to the special suit and complete even the shortest course in 1 minute. At 91c per part it has to be one of the most expensive sets of all time, they are certainly the most expensive parts I own! There's just no way these are worth their price-tag. LEGO have to be raking it in with them. At half the price they'd still be more expensive per part than sets with electronic components. And no, there's nothing electronic about these parts. But you may ask doesn't it add to the gameplay? No, not at all. You kind of shake Mario to 'shoot' a fireball at an enemy and gain a coin. However you do not need to actually be shooting at an enemy. The power up is a coin for a shake. Add to the fact that I found it very inconsistent. Not every shake gave me a coin. In fact it seemed more like one in four, but that could just be down to my technique.","review_amount":null,"rating_original":null,"rating_converted":null,"author_name":"jaredhinton","embed":null},{"review_url":"https:\/\/www.brickfanatics.com\/lego-super-mario-71370-fire-mario-power-up-pack-review\/","snippet":"71370 Fire Mario Power-Up Pack offers a slight change of pace for Mario and looks great \u2013 but the Power-Up packs are probably not the most exciting products in this theme.","review_amount":null,"rating_original":null,"rating_converted":null,"author_name":"Graham","embed":null},{"review_url":"https:\/\/www.hispabrickmagazine.com\/content\/2020\/07\/29\/powering-up-lego-mario\/","snippet":null,"review_amount":null,"rating_original":null,"rating_converted":null,"author_name":"Jetro de Ch\u00e2teau","embed":null}]}
