He is really happy with how all the pieces turned out. He especially likes the motorcycle. In my opinion, the colors are a little dreary--but then again, I'm not an eight-year old boy... For how many figures you get, I think the set is priced well. I have to commend LEGO, though, on always including the most easy-to-follow instructions. Man, they have that ish locked down. Between my husband and my three kids, I don't even know how many LEGO sets we've put together over the years. But we always have the pieces we need, and we know exactly how everything fits together. The little details like the doors opening to shoot missiles is cool. The colour scheme is unique too and I like it. Only real complaints are how the wings are attached, very solid building techniques, but have to break apart a bit to be able to put into storage. But its understandable how its been built for younger kids to play.
