It's well made, not a bad value, but I'm not interested in what they were going for. It recreates a toy train, but toy trains lack the depth of something like, say, The Emerald Night. Though it often disintegrates when a boxcar is dropped, a little quick re-assembly of the durable legos has it back up and running. I also purchased extra track and the motor functions, and this is a little tricky to assemble into the gray box-car unit. There are several helpful youtube videos out there to walk you through the assembly though. You will need to scavenge a few pieces from other lego sets, but chances are if you buy this it will not be the only lego stuff you own. This video below is similar to the method I used, but I made a few modifications as I did not have the exact pieces he used.
