The side wings\/guns move around giving him something to play with which makes a big difference over a completely static toy. He also has a Lego set of a bulldozer that he remade into a spaceship (at half the cost) that he plays with just as much. However as someone who grew up on Star Wars it was tough not to get him one when he asked since it was a birthday present. Overall I would recommend it if you want\/need the brand, otherwise I would get a larger \"plain\" Lego set for the same money, they wind up making it into whatever they want anyway.
