The positive terminal on some (most) batteries is too wide to make contact with the terminal connector on the battery pack. I only realized this though after I tried to fix mine and snapped off one of the terminals. So now I have to spend another $35 to replace a part that is basically a low budget radio receiver and battery box. Thanks Lego!
