Haunted House (10273) will hit your wallet hard at $299.99. However, the value of the set is still excellent, and you get hours of build time. Additionally, there is a lot of nostalgia built into the kit. All the Easter eggs really add to build experience. My only complaint is the small number of Minifigures for a set this large. Throwing in a few more nostalgic characters would have improved that. Minifigure statues, or a suit of armor by the entrance perhaps. Overall, I am incredibly pleased with this set and I highly recommend it.

This is a seriously big set. At 68cm tall, it is imposing and still impresses me as I see it in my living room. The drop itself is expertly crafted and so smooth. It's a shame that there is no room to move inside the set when it's closed up, but this isn't really a problem when it opens up like a dolls house and everything is on display. This has been made up with so many references to old sets, which was a lot of fun to explore. My wishlist for old sets has now grown significantly! If you see this set on a shelf, pick it up.

Absolutely incredible set. I took my time building it over a few days so I could really appreciate its engineering. It's a work of art, in visuals, in design, in physics. I have never fallen so much in love with a LEGO set ever, I don't think. The organ is a thing of beauty, operating the lift will never get old, and the whole piece works as a standalone set and as something to be incorporated into a theme park or city. You will not regret buying this model.

The “purity" of the Haunted House, as a large detailed LEGO model makes it stand tall amongst other similarly priced sets, and is one of the better sets you could invest in this year. If you're like most adult LEGO fans who are looking for great sets to display, the Haunted House is a must-buy IF you're able to get your hands on it.

At a price of $250, you do get a fair number of parts for the price, even with 150 of the pieces being the small tread pieces. You also get a slathering of sand green bricks and brown windows. Though, the build in my opinions leaves a little to be desired, as it tends to get repetitive like many other fairground sets, and the Minifigures selection is rather basic- plus you get two duplicate sets of figures, which cuts down on the variety a bit.

10273 Haunted House isn't perfect, and by no means clearly sets a marker for the 18+ direction the LEGO Group wants go with particular sets and themes, but, there's still plenty to more than appreciate, and importantly in all the right areas. Make sure to not miss this set, it won't hang around forever. Be haunted by it, not for failing to buy it.

The techniques used to create the functional aspects of the ride are extremely impressive and don't feel overly complex to build. Apart from the slight mishap with the chain, there weren't any issues getting the elevator to work. I understand people saying that it's such a radical departure from other Fairground sets, but how many theme parks have rides which all feature the same branding? I like being surprised by a set and the Haunted House certainly did that. I missed out on the Monster Fighters version and this is more than a worthy alternative.

The main play feature actually works very well but the chain on mine sometimes does clip on to the gear so it'll take a few turns before it goes up. One thing I don't really like about it is the repetitiveness of some of the corners and walls. The amount of references to previous LEGO sets is somewhat unexpected but a welcome addition because the story connects to the older Adventurers sets.

The Haunted House would be an excellent set, even if it had no ride inside. The details are marvelous, and like the recent Pirates of Barracuda Bay, the nostalgic throwbacks to earlier LEGO themes are a surefire hit for any fans who grew up during the 90s. The fact that it has a unique and technically complex ride in its core takes this set to the next level.

10273 Haunted House could be significantly improved. Personally, I think the drop tower and the haunted house should have been created separately, thereby enabling the designer to achieve better examples of each attraction. Nevertheless, the model looks superb on display and the price of £209.99 or $249.99 seems quite reasonable in my opinion, especially since 3231 pieces are included.
