Overall, #10278 Police Station is a great set with thoughtful play features, a striking design, versatile new parts, and a great price point.
This is a really strong modular building. I'm a huge fan. I'm a huge fan of Chris McVeigh, so knowing he was doing a modular was really exciting. There's a ton of colour and interesting features, a beautiful looking build and loads of detail. I like having a back story to these sets. It makes them so much more interesting and ‘alive'. It's big, uses some interesting new techniques – the vine, stairs, and water cooler, and is a lot of fun to build.
The LEGO Police Station was a fun build and it was a pretty easy build. The only complaint I have is I wish there was a sink in the bathroom so the mini figures could wash their hands. LOL The exterior is nice, but I really like the details that are inside as gives a nice 40s & 50s look to the station. The classic police uniforms is a nice touch that LEGO did. I would recommend this to anyone.
I can highly recommend this set when it launches on 1 January 2021, and if you're new to LEGO and want a slightly challenging, but rewarding build, I can't think of a better set to recommend for early 2021 than 10278 Police Station.
With such easy replacements for those who prefer not to increase police presence in our idealized LEGO worlds, the fun build, interesting details, printed parts, new parts, rare colors, and beautiful architecture all lead to a strong recommendation from us.
Seriously, a near perfect set, this is the unicorn of LEGO. Whether a modular fan or first time modular building you will be very happy with this set. Packed with 'wow' moments and fun little moments, countless times I stopped building to just admire a technique or detail.
I definitely have the Modular bug now and this set has only fuelled that love of them. They offer an air familiarity, yet every new addition to the collection offers something completely different. The focus is on creating a unique build experience, something to get lost in and helps to expand your own little LEGO world. Simple collections of elements can be really impactful and add so much character to the set. Something I felt the Bookshop lacked.
I don't know about you, but once I've built the model I simply sit and admire it rather than play out scenarios, or indeed look inside it much, either. So while the inside details and a narrative are nice-to-have in a modular building, they are not that important to me. What is important is that they are innovative, fun and interesting to build, introduce new construction techniques using the latest pieces, and look stunning on display. 10278 Police Station meets all those requirements, particularly the last and most important one.
When the LEGO Group first unveiled 10278 Police Station, we had misgivings over its mismatched heights and narrow side buildings. But having put it together, it's clear that any doubts were misplaced. It's not just that the build is so enjoyable – and make no mistake, it's heaps of fun – but the final model sits in such visual harmony that whether this is your first modular building or your 16th, you'll enjoy it just as much solo on your shelf or among your wider LEGO city.
