This is a Lego Juniors kit consisting of 95 pieces. The kit contains Lighting McQueen in his gray training outfit and Sheriff. There is a “radar" speed detector on a trailer (which can be hooked to one of the cars and towed via the tow bar. There is also a ramp and a roadblock (has two swinging barrier bars) a cone and a shrub. With Juniors kits, some pieces are already put together (such as much of the chassis and the tire pegs.) There are no stickers in the kit as all of the features are already printed on the pieces. My grandson was able to put most of the kit together (though some pieces were a little more difficult such as the speed detector.) He's not quite four, so it should be fairly easy for a slightly older child.
I bought this set solely for the pieces that comes with it. I always build the sets though. This was an easy build and is the same quality of legos we love. After I built this, my brother played with it for a few minutes but then got bored with it. It is a small set (as to be expected by the price) but is a good value for the money. While this set can be built and played with alone, I would recommend this only if your child has other legos to expand onto this set. The fact that these are PRINTED and not stickers was a big selling point for me. You can inter mix the car pieces to make your own unique car if you wish. This is a good set overall.
10742 Willy's Butte Speed Training was my most anticipated Cars 3 set and it does not disappoint. The exclusive Sheriff looks great and I like the new sand blue Lightning McQueen too, although I have yet to see the film so am not sure how prevalent this design will be. Much of the scenery is equally pleasing and the printed elements are excellent, particularly since most of them could be very useful elsewhere.
