The LEGO Architecture model for the Flatiron Building continues the recent trend in the product line for increasing the level of detail in each individual model (nominally by also increasing the piece count, but so it goes). Stand the Flatiron Building next to earlier New York City landmarks (i.e., the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, the Guggenheim Museum) and you will be amazed at how much more detailed and lifelike it is in comparison. This is a great set. Its construction is rather complex (which is very refreshing after the rather simplistic construction of the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center), and will take you between 1 - 2 hours to build. As mentioned in the above paragraph, it is an exceptionally well-detailed set. It's a great addition to your collection, and a must-buy for anyone collecting models of New York City landmarks.
Great set and looks great when complete. Took me a hour o build but once I start I can't bring myself to stop was great doing it and watching bit come.together. This was my third architecture sets and the best looks out the 3 I have.
I think this is a satisfactory set in the Architecture line, but not a standout. It does a pretty decent job of replicating the Flatiron Building's look but is not 100% there yet. It's not as good as 21030 United States Capitol Building, but I do think it's one of the better Architecture sets at this price point. Yet again, I have to bring up the dead horse to beat – I really feel Architecture sets are overpriced. This set is not as terrible as some other sets, but it still definitely feels overpriced. Yes, you get the “premium" stuff with the box and instructions, but people rarely display those alongside the finished build, so it's kind of pointless.
I think the Flatiron Building is a superb choice for an Architecture model and it is thoroughly impressive when compared with images of the real thing. Of the five Architecture sets I own this is certainly my favourite by a substantial margin, not only because it looks excellent but also as £34.99 is good value in my opinion considering the detail and weight of the model.
Sure, the Architecture sets are price-y. But if you're a fan of architecture, the LEGO line, and want to treat yoself to a fancy shmancy LEGO set, this is a pretty good one; the build is fun yet easy enough, and you leave with an aesthetically wonderful set to display and parade wherever you go!
