Turbo Track Racer

The set was really fantastic, I gave less than 5 stars because of quality issues. We received an older version of the instructions, with pieces for the newer version of the set. This led to a great deal of confusion, when it appeared we were missing a number of pieces. Thankfully I checked the newest version of the instructions, before reporting the pieces missing. The between this issue and a defective piece in another set this Christmas, it appears Lego is having some quality control issues. I've been building Lego sets since the mid-1980s, and have never seen anything like this. more less

It's lego. It's a lego car kit. What young child is not going to have fun with this? We boxed this kit in our library's "think tank" room, where students can build and create, and it was fun to add this kit to the mix. Some students made the stock car, some made the fork lift, some made the formula one car, but many repurposed the pieces to build their own creations. I do think this kit (like most) are slightly overpriced, and would downgrade it a star, but the car did have some really cool features: lotus style doors that opened, a boot and bonnet that opened to show the engine, etc. I gave it a pass on the priciness, thanks to the ingenuity. I still hope lego will offer some lower priced kits. Every child deserves the fun and joy of building, even if the come from a economically disadvantaged area. more less

Creator cars are not uncommon so the extent to which 31070 Turbo Track Racer stands out is testament to its high quality. The colour scheme and shaping of the bodywork looks tremendous, as do the subtler details found on both the interior and exterior. This is definitely a model worthy of display but it offers plenty of play value too, particularly where the impressive gull wing doors are concerned. more less
