Lego games are designed so that kids can change the rules and the setup. There is a basic layout, but my son takes the 'rooms' and 'hallways' and sets them up how he likes. He loves making new rules. The dice for Lego games are changeable as well, so as the rules change kids can make the dice have different types of sides. (You could take a flat orange Lego, for example, and say that it means character teleports 10 spaces, or something crazy.) This game also connects to other Heroica sets and just by the very nature of Lego, he likes to find ways to connect them to other Lego games that it wasn't necessarily intended for such as Minotaurus and the pyramid Lego set.The mini-figures are smaller than typical Lego mini-figures and they have no moveable parts. They are really too small for moveable parts, but my son really likes them.
All in all, 3874 Ilrion is a nice set and even better if you're adding it to your already existing collection of Heroica games. So gather some fellow heroes, arm yourselves, and embark on an epic journey through the sewers to rescue the king! Just try to remember how to lose gracefully.
