Considering Mini Robots (40413) as the set it was meant to be, I have to say that I would not buy this. The build is as entertaining as any LEGO® set. However, I did not gain anything new from it. Additionally, I did not get a set that I want to display or keep in my LEGO® city. However, the brick assortment is fun. If you have a big set in mind that you want now, you might as well get the free pieces.
Overall, the LEGO MINDSTORMS Mini Robots (40413) is a decent promotion for the release of the new Robot Inventor (51515) set. All of builds are a good representation of what you can find in the larger version.
Attached to a required spend of £100 or $100, it's not going to be top of everyone's list, but, for those who do end up with a copy, it makes for a nice bonus, particularly at a comparably sizeable piece count for a GWP.
On one hand, it's hard not to recommend a set that's included for free when you're buying other things. But at the same time, not all gift-with-purchase sets are created equal, and some of them are worthy only of being relegated to the parts bins. And while it's doubtful many LEGO fans will be buying $100 worth of LEGO solely to get this set, it's a solid enough set that most people will be pleasantly pleased with this freebie, even if they have no intention of getting the $360 Robot Inventor kit. And with 366 pieces, it's a great parts pack, especially accounting for the narrow color scheme (only about a dozen pieces are not white, teal, black, or light/dark grey).
For a GWP, it's fairly substantial. I don't know how many parts it has, but it's probably around 300 or so, so even if you have no interest in building the robots themselves you'll most likely find something useful among them.
40413 Mini Robots provides an appealing set of robots in a nice colour scheme. Are they the best, most detailed robots one could build at this scale? No. But they are faithful scaled-down renditions of the larger robots in the 51515 MINDSTORMS set, and will make for a great companion set displayed next to the much larger 51515 builds. And as a free GWP set this is quite a generous offering, allowing all five mini-robots to be built at once, and even including extras such as the alternate stud-shooter attachment on Bucket Bot. This set probably isn't going to sway those on the fence about buying 51515, yet the colour palette and parts selection is great, and should make it possible to create some cool robots of your own – and also allow 51515 customers to make mini versions of their custom MINDSTORMS robotic creations.
