Great little set. The wagon is so cute. There weren't too many stickers and I like how the Jack-o-lantern sticker was one piece (unlike the pumpkin in the pumpkin and bat duo set). I loved the jack-o-lantern piece; I just wish there were a couple more. A few minor criticisms: the tractor is too wide to drive through the gate (I'm planning on modifying it slightly to make it wider) and I wish the child had bendable legs so she could sit in the wagon. Overall a great set to add on to my Halloween display.
I like Halloween Hayride (40423). In terms of seasonal sets, you get fun characters and accessories at a good value. However, I do wish the Minifigures had more printing and were both adult characters. With that said, this is an inexpensive Halloween display piece.
One of the best things about the set is the two Minifigures, both of which feature unique new parts only found in this set. The tractor driver is kitted out in an off-white Mummy costume, with bandages print on both the torso and legs. They also surround most of his head, leaving a little room for his face to peek through. He looks slightly angry looking as well as looking a little like the legendary Ron Swanson, which is why he may a little unhappy to be dressed as a Mummy. The young girl looks slightly look a lot happier and is dressed in a skeleton-themed hoodie. I like how the skeleton bone print matches that of the classic LEGO skeleton, which is also included in the set.
I love vignettes, and I think this one will fit in nicely with my Halloween themed creations. I love the minifigs, particularly the printed mummy torso - it looks fantastic. I like the little story, and I think there's some nice parts usage. This may be worth picking up as a parts pack, as there's some reasonably rare pieces included - such as the 4x4 1/4 circle plate in sand green, previously only seen in 70840 Welcome to Apocalypseburg!.
You know, I really like these little Seasonal sets. They're not too expensive, they make a great display piece for a month or so, then you can pack them away with the rest of the decorations to show off again next year. Or you can just absorb the parts back into the collective and build something new. Either way, they're usually a lot of fun, and the Halloween Hayride feels like one of the nicer ones.
