When I saw this set had been retired by Lego, I went ahead and snapped it up for my daughter (who is only 2, haha). It is so beautiful and has so many cute features! She already loves to play pretend with little figurines and dollhouses, so I'm sure this will be a hit. My only wish is that it was a little bigger, I think it would be perfect if it had one more wall and maybe a hint of a garden... but that's the beauty of Legos - I can make that happen! As it is, the detail per square inch is superb and I'm very happy with the set.
Girls will love building and playing with this set, and they'll love using their imaginations to create their own adventures with the new LEGO Elves world.
From the front, the Magical Bakery looks like an excellent little Elves build, but when you turn it around, the interior leaves much to be desired. The lack of walls are a big pain point for me. I felt that LEGO could've also done so much more with the interiors to make it a lot more interesting. Either that or chuck way more bread or food elements into the set! The lack of a LEGO pie makes me seriously question the credentials of this establishment!
In the end, I can't recommend this set enough. A $30 set with 324 elements (and 25 extras) including two minidolls and a cute animal friend. If you can see yourself building with these bright colors, then don't hesitate to get to it.
Having built the bakery as my second Elves set, I have to say I'm quite pleased with the finished product. A wide assortment of interesting parts comes together to form a fantastic little model—if I ever do choose to take the set apart to try building something else, it should offer plenty of options, but given how amazing the base model is I can't help but think that it might still be a long time before I get to that point.
This is another solid buy. The parts are excellent, and the build is fun, if not a little lacking for my personal taste, with just the one wall. It definitely achieves what it's supposed to, and creates a nice little play set with great colors in great parts.
