There have only been 2 decent attempts at a Lego grocery store/supermarket and I think that this is the most successful (and most affordable! The other one that I'm referring to is retired and costs over $1000 set #10185)This little supermarket has everything from a grocery cart, check out lane with conveyor belt, meat & sushi/fish counter, produce, baked goods display, produce, and many other fun details/surprises!I only have one con though. That purple base is not a great color for everybody/most people. I wish it would've been one of the tan plates or even one of the original green colored plates. But it's not a big deal bc every collection has multiple plates to swap out/spares.I definitely would recommend that you check this little set out! If I've peaked your interest then let me know that I've helped you out by "liking" my review. Thanks for reading! ;)

Overall, for a $30 MSRP, you get a bit over 300 pieces which puts it on par for the usual 10 cents/piece average that people judge sets by. However, I would say that this set is actually better than that - the printed pieces are fantastic, and the stickers (mostly) add value to the set as well. I'm actually tempted to grab another one of the Heartlake Supermarket sets simply to be able to have bigger, better food stands (i.e. two watermelons rather than one)! For my money, this set is highly recommended - even if you don't get any useful minifigures out of it!

So we got the LEGO Friends Heartlake supermarket for our family. Our son is three, so we helped him with the building (he did very well on his own with our guidance; he's learning to look at the instructions to see where to put the pieces we give him). Anyway, we knew he loves shopping at the grocery store so we got this for the family for Christmas. While there are a lot of stickers, there are some nice printed pieces too, like the milk carton, the top of the strawberry jam, the cash register and both newspapers. The "What's at Heart" newspaper has some great references to other Friends sets, as does the cork board sticker, so while stickers aren't ideal, they really do help with adding extra ambiance to bring the set to life. The grocery store itself is nice and sturdy after it is fully built, and is full of items to buy in its departments. The set comes with Daniel in a supermarket clerk uniform, and Mia in a nice breezy top, light blue skirt and shoes. The shopping cart and cart rack, plus newsstand for the newspapers add to the feel of a nice corner grocery store. The newsstand is stand-alone but could be fitted within the store as a floral and newspaper department alongside the meat and dairy department. Overall a lot of fun could be had with this set and it contains story seeds for additional play with other sets as well.

I'm really pleased with Heartlake Supermarket and can confidently recommend it to those of you with minifigure-scale City/civilian layouts. For those that cannot stand minidolls, you can easily swap them out for regular minifigs and the model still works exceptionally well.

There are not a large number of parts in this set, but it does have some great parts. The printed tiles in this set are gorgeous, especially the new cookie, chocolate and sushi tiles. Great parts pack for stocking your own supermarket!
