Such a cute little Moana Set. I love that the shelter has two levels and is a little bit deeper than expected. For the same price as the Frozen set - Anna & Kristoff's Sleigh Adventure, it's a bigger set with more thats relatable to the film.
This is a 205 piece Lego set which was fairly easy to assemble. It is her island home with a fire pit and waterfall area, too. There is a Moana mini-doll figure (similar to those in the Friends Lego sets) and Pua, her pet pig. There are flames, drums, fruits and the waterfall has a secret drawer which opens. My grandson is too young to put the set together (at 3.5 years) but he is enjoying playing Moana with me now that I have assembled it. This set has a lot of play potential because, though it is smaller than many other sets, it has three play areas. We are having a lot of fun with it.
For fans of the film, this is a simple build that is sure to inspire kids' own adventures with the newest Disney Princess, Moana. The details in this set, straight down to the fish on the rotisserie and secret waterfall functions, help to bring the setting to life.
It just tries to do too much with a miniscule piece count (205 pieces) and fails on all fronts. Given the source material, this set could have resulted in a decent hut but it's not. I've seen what LEGO can do with homes, cabins, and the like from various other themes like Friends and Creator.
It's not a bad little set, and I imagine a must for any children who have seen the movie and must have a Moana of their own. The price is a little high for the pieces you get (205 pieces, $24.99, £24.99, 29.99€), but that's undoubtedly due to the Disney licensing.
If you're looking for a screen-accurate representation of Moana's village, you won't find that here. But what you will find is a fun little playset, made of a good collection of parts in great colors (tan, brown, grey) and interesting pieces like Pua, the Heart of Tefini, 2×2 round inverted domes, and the stickered tiles. There are no new molds for parts (save for the piggy), but there are pieces in new colors which are always a welcome addition.
