So, what not to like? Huge size, great playability, great looks, and great pieces. I only wish that suspension was included for the car, but that is a very minor issue.

This was a Christmas gift from my daughters. Took me three days (about 7 hours each day) to build. More like 3 models in one. It is a big model and I really enjoy the gears and lower able ramp and upper decks. The turning circle on the car is very large and not sure how this would be made smaller.

My son saved and saved for this set. We paid $190 for a 2 in 1 set that only comes with the direction book for ONE of the sets. My son was very disappointed as he wanted to build the second set and it was harder to follow the online directions. It's a nice set, but seriously, for the much money, you can't print the instructions for all of it?!

I highly recommend this set. Not only because the builds are awesome but for sheer value for money this set is unequalled. It contains so many long beams and panels. At 7.2c per part (US price) you'll be hard pushed to find a better value set in 2019.

The LEGO Technic flagship sets of 2019 are yet to be released, but it's safe to say that 42098 Car Transporter is one of the most engaging and surprising products of the last several years. This set has so many advantages, it's hard to find a reason not to get one in case you're choosing one to get this autumn. It's a brilliant collection of pieces for custom builds, it's 3 models in one set, and it's simply a great toy.

New Elementary

Recommendation: meh by Tim Johnson

It has some flaws and requires lots of space to be played with (have you tried manoeuvring an 86 cm-long truck with trailer lately?). But it is huge and imposing, has realistic looks, and, most of all, has heaps of playability. When I first heard that a car transporter was coming to Technic as a large set, I thought "meh", but I'm glad to be wrong.

The overall look of the car transporter is a wondrous thing. Regardless of the size, it looks incredibly accurate to its real life counterparts and really comes into its own once one or more cars are placed on top or below. Technic sets more than anything rely on stickers to add the necessary details and in this instance they look fantastic too, really adding to the final look.

I thought this would be a dull and boring set but I was mistaken. It looks very impressive, the controls are manifold and work well, and -- I haven't mentioned this yet -- it's a fantastic parts pack for Technic builders.
