I think that this set is well worth your money, and your time. It is fairly easy to start, but it can get challenging at some points, but it's all part of the fun. It looks very nice and elegant. If you are buying this set for a child, they should have an awesome experience, and learn about mechanics and engineering.
I think this set is only targetted for Fast and Furious fans as normal LEGO fan would only see this as a black car. However building this makes me feels like I'm a real mechanic especially when you build the spring part.
LEGO describes the new 42111 Dodge Charger set as “an awesome replica model of the classic muscle car." Is Dodge Charge a classic muscle car? For sure. Is the set an impressive replica? I doubt it. Budget limits and the scale of the model killed an otherwise fantastic idea for a set that could be popular with everyone. I can't agree more with the opinion that this car should have been a Creator Expert vehicle built of System pieces.
It's hard to review a car. There are no goofy poses to put it into for y'all, and your feelings on it are going to really come down to what you're here for. Are you a super intense car lover? As a 1970 Dodge Charger it's a decent recreation but not GREAT apparently. The A-column looks terrible I'm told. Are you a big Technic fan? The Technic mechanisms aren't super advanced, and the build isn't anything crazy different from other Technic cars (I'm told). Are you somehow a big Fast & Furious fan and an AFOL or a lapsed LEGO fan who hasn't touched the bricks since childhood? Great, buy this sucker right now.
I'm a firm believer that the number of elements and price per part are very fallible metrics with which to evaluate a LEGO set: it's a totally different thing to have 100 1x1 plates compared to 100 EV3 bricks. So, for better or worse, I'll use the more subjective evaluation of "stuff you get for the price". As of time of writing, the set costs £89.99 / $99.99 / 97.47€. For what it brings, I feel this is reasonable, but barely. If around 10 of each currency were to be deducted from its price, it would be a lot more palatable.
If you're not a die-hard fan from the Fast saga, who wants to have this set on display no matter what, I would recommend to take what it costs to buy some other LEGO Technic set of similar value.
This is one of the worst Technic cars LEGO has produced, in my opinion. It was the wrong car to model and the wrong LEGO system to model it in. LEGO has proved that it can make stunning Technic models of cars -- last year's Land Rover, for example -- but it needs to pick its subjects more carefully and stick to those that are suited to the medium.
