I would recommend this set because as a Harry Potter fan, I am happy to own something that plays a major part in the films. As LEGO starts to phase out the 2010 LEGO sets, it'll be harder to find in stores and prices will certainly skyrocket in the future.

I bought this set for my 10 year old who is a Lego and Harry Potter fanatic. Some of the Lego sets are WAY over-priced, but this one seems good for the amount of pieces included. I think this set would be a bit complicated for younger children. My son had no problem, but he is very into Legos and has built many, many sets prior to this one. My great concern was the durability. He likes to play with the sets once built, not simply look at them. Through 3 months he has been able to play with the castle with no problem. The pieces hold together well and there is enough to the set that it remains enjoyable for him. I would definitely recommend this set for fans of Lego and Harry Potter.

That's a 'C' grade where I come from, and that's certainly right for this set. Is it better than the past Hogwarts Castles? Maybe. It's better than the first one, and that's the only other one I have. But it's still not that great; maybe Hogwarts just can't be, in a set anyway.

Is it a good set? Yes. Is it a perfect representation of Hogwarts Castle? Heavens no, but you can't honestly expect that. Hogwarts is a huge, complex place, so even a UCS Hogwarts would still be way underscaled. But for a playset, it's pretty good. Better than any of the previous three castles in my opinion.

This will undoubtedly be a rewarding set for all Harry Potter fans. If you're just a casual follower, make this the one HP set you add to your collection. On top of a sweet-looking castle, you'll also end up with great MOC fodder for architecture and desert landscapes.

The LEGO 4842 set isn't perfect, but it's certainly an improvement on previous versions. Harry Potter fans will get a very nice-looking set, with a great silhouette, that is fun and playable. While it does not have all common rooms and tables, it has enough to enable a lot of adventures.

It was a pretty good set to build, but once again since I am not a fan of this wizard I guess you who are will enjoy the set much more than I do. It has some awesome figs and animals in it. Some nice printed parts, but apart from that, this set will live a short life assembled in my LEGO world.
