I fly model airplanes and my son always wants me to get one with floats even though we are nowhere near a lake, so I snapped this up what I saw it. He's building it now and seems very happy with it so its a win in my book.
Bought this set for my five-year-old son. It was easy enough to assemble that he did most of the work with minimal assistance. But he builds Legos to play with them instead of display. Most of the City sets are durable enough to him to play with but this plane loses its wings every time he touches them. Looks very nice but not one of our favorite sets due to the fragility of the wing structure.
Sets like this one represent the epitome of LEGO City in my opinion. The seaplane consists of only just over one hundred pieces but is packed with attractive details and fun features, the most significant of which is its intrinsic swooshability based on the sturdy design. I like the smaller accessories too as these greatly increase the play value and would look great as part of a larger coastal display.
