The prices were fun to explore especially the two halves that make up the gold cave and of course the exam computer.
This was a perfect Christmas present for my almost 5 year old. He plays with Legos all the time and didn't have much trouble getting this put together by himself. When he asked for help, it was mostly just to find a piece. He was proud of himself and excited that the drill actually turns.
60186 Mining Heavy Driller includes enough component parts to make this good value while also delivering plenty of playability for set of this size. This set is my personal favourite from this sub-theme and is a great inclusion to the world of LEGO City.
I think this set is just okay. The main driller looks nice but the sidebuilds, in particular the tippy truck and tool rack, are a bit lacking. It also feels a bit too simplified for a set of this size. Furthermore, the main drilling play feature feels rather unsophisticated and crude, though the rest of the set has good playability. I like the inclusion of the gold nugget pieces, but the minifigure selection is also far too small for a set of this size.
