My two grandsons had a bit of a tussle over the Lego ice cream truck. They both wanted it and finally had to flip a coin to the see who would get it. After they got it put together they had a lot of fun with it. They landed up sharing custody of it. Excellent detail and looks like a real ice cream truck. For as many pieces as there are, it is relatively easy to put together. The boys like using the digital instructions on their tablets and they are very easy to follow. The boys have the donut shop set and they put the ice cream truck right in the middle of it. Awesome customers and ice cream props make this an exceptional Lego set.
I really enjoyed building this Lego set, and playing with it too is fun. My only complaints is I for some reason struggle with putting the roof for the driver's area on, though that might just be me. This set wasn't made for someone with big fingers like myself with how cramped the ice cream area is, but still a lot of fun to play with nonetheless!
The Ice-Cream Truck is certainly a niche-interest set. However, it comes at a good value and features many fun details. The Minifigures need more printing, but the accessory count and brick:fig ratios are great. I am a city-builder, so this set struck a chord with me. I was not disappointed, and I think this is a great kit.
If, like me, you have fond childhood memories of hearing the chime of an ice cream van in the distance on a hot summer's day, asking your parents for 50p, then running to the van's usual stopping place up the road to join the queue of other kids waiting to buy a cooling treat, you will love this set.
It's always nice to see LEGO City sets which offer something beyond the almost constant stream of police and fire sets. There are a fair few stickers but they really add to the fun of the set, I especially like how they match up with the actual ice cream elements inside the van.
