King Crominus' Rescue

King Crominus' Rescue is a large set that primarly highlights the fire side of the battle. The build is mostly Cragger's fire-upgraded helicrocter which, ironically, originally appeared in the first wave of Chima and now concludes the series. The copter uses the same rotor design (for the most part) as Lavertus' Twin Blade from 2014 but the rotating feature is a lot harder to use as the helicrocter has a lot of bulk to it and you have to push forward. Lavertus' Twin Blade was a lot lighter and you pushed down to operate the rotors making this smaller set a bit more of a success in this department. I was surprised to find that the feet were very loosely held in place and how massive the aircraft turned out to be. The head of the model is quite impressive using nice textures and detailing and Cragger can sit inside without removing his firewings. Aside from the propulsion feature, there is only one more. Laval gets a small lion vehicle which has a ball joint piece angled up at the rear. The ball joint fits perfectly into Cragger's copter turning it into a crane as well. When you want to deploy the little lion car, simply pull back a piece. Laval's vehicle greatly resembles the thunder raider from ninjago however this one uses mixed colors and has two disc shooters. The seating for Laval is a little cramped though.The ice tribes in this set get so much stuff. No, that was sarcasm-the ice tribes get a few representative minifigures and a white tile with an ice piece on it. That's it. Yeah, not exactly pleased with how that turned out, and I find it strange that the set is called King Crominus' Rescue because the set has is so focused on other things. We have a great selection of minifigures with both Laval and Cragger with their firewings, we get King Crominus (of course), and we get a handful of ice tribe minifigs all with nice prints and good weapons. Overall, I like this set. It's not my favorite because I feel like the set should have had more features for the price and I think that this will be harder for a young kid to play with because of the bulk. The rotors are hard to operate (large hands or not) and they never manage to go that fast. I also noticed the rotors have a tendency to catch if you're not careful. I like the detailing of the helicrocter and all the minifigures. The small fire lion vehicle is kinda forgettable but I quite like the new crane style feature. If you bought this set at its full price I don't think it's worth that much. I happened to purchase this set later on and got it at a tremendous discount therefore I was a lot more pleased with what I got for what I payed. I think this set will have mixed opinions so if you like what you see/hear, by all means purchase it! If you're not as sure, save up for something else! more less
