At AU$60, I think it's priced a little higher than I would've liked it, considering Nexo Knights is an original theme. I paid full price for this from LEGO.com, but even then, I totally felt like I got my money's worth. I think AU$50 should've been the ideal price for The King's Mech, and at the AU$60 price point, it would've been nice to have an opponent for it instead of just a meager crossbow ballista.
This Lego set was a birthday present for my Deviant Art friend Zero. He got a lot of enjoyment out of this and was eternally grateful to me for my purchase. In his toy universe, this gigantic knight could be a godlike hero or an oppressive tyrant. Either way, it's going to be hours of fun with this set!
The first thing I am going to say is that this is a good set,but I honestly didn't buy it at full price. I am an American citizen who bought it in Canada, (the exchange rate is awesome right now), and though I am not disappointed, I wouldn't buy it at full price. It is a good set, and they REALLY did a good job with detail on this wave of the new NEXO KNIGHTS. But, there are a few easily fixed problems buyers should be prepared for. First, the sword arm is quite flexible, which I like, but the "shield/vehicle arm is a disappointment. It can't move like the sword arm, which defeats the purpose of it being a shield because it can't raise up to block anything. This can be easily fixed. The crossbow is a little hard for the flamethrower guy to hold. Other than that, it is a sturdy, strong, amazing, detailed set. You really outdid yourself this time, LEGO!
It was love at first sight and I really loved this mech design very much. High points for the overall mech design which is highly posable and intimidating.
The set is for LEGO and NEXO Knights fans, ages 8-14. We think kids as young as 6 will like playing with the completed set. Older fans and LEGO collectors might also want to check it out.
Overall, while it doesn't necessarily reach the heights of some of my favourite mid-size mechs of recent times such as Set 6862 Superman Vs Power Armor Lex and Set 9455 Fangpyre Mech, the King's Mech is nevertheless a decent effort. It's stable, the limbs feature multiple points of articulation allowing it to be readily posed, and it looks pretty good both front and back.
