I like that lego makes so many of these little vehicle kits. They are just about the perfect size and complexity for a 5 year old attention span. I finally got smart and bought my son a big bagful of these little lego kits instead of a big kit. Now every week or so he gets one out and puts it together. He doesn't need my help for these, and the pieces don't get lost before it's finished. He can even take one with him someplace! One tip- when he wants to keep this type of kit as a finished piece, or store it and redo it- we've found that storing each of these in a box or tupperware with the directions and a cut-out picture from the box is a way to be able to rebuild some of these kits. Otherwise it just gets added to the mountains of uinidentifiable legos.
It's a small set - not a whole lot to the design. I liked the attempt at NPU with the pistols. The hover bike is compact, and the scout vehicle is very nice for its size. The use of levers for the controls looks cool/retro, but they tend to fall off with play.
I find this set quite normal. It is a simple concept of both parties combating with one another in a imaginary setting that can be dream by any child.
