I know nothing about Lego ninjago. And since I'm not a 9 year old boy, I'm okay with that. Guess who does know something about Lego ninjago...my 9 year old step son. And he lost his you-know-what when he opened this gift for his b-day last year. So, I assume I did a good job. Lego ninjago (seriously, what is a ninjago?) for the win.
It doesn't have many faults but it doesn't jump out and wow you either. I do like the look of the set but there isn't that much playability with it.
This vehicle has a lovely shape, is a solid ship to play with and brings something very new to The LEGO NINJAGO Movie theme. It is not as appealing or must-own as 70618 Destiny's Bounty or the Ninja mechs, but still a worthy addition to a movie-based collection.
This is a disappointing set. I think the Manta Ray Bomber looks reasonable on the whole but it lacks certain functions which I expected, most notably where the bombs are concerned. Many previous sets have included some kind of bomb dropping feature but that is not present here which seems like a strange decision. Perhaps these bombers are intended to be fairly rudimentary and the bombs are simply thrown over the side by the occupants, although if that is the case then it should be shown on the packaging.
