This was and interesting and fun build with plenty of great parts. I love the clever studs up/studs down build of the cab using SNOT plates on the sides to connect the top and bottom half. I love that the designers choose gray treads rather than black and seemed to avoid black bricks where they could. I would have liked a built on place to clip Zane's bow and quiver since neither fit well in the cab with him. The designs and artwork on the stickers are very well done, but I hate putting the stickers on, and they never age nor wear well.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Ice Tank (70616) is somewhat of a middle of the road set for me. There's nothing about the set that stands out for me. Kids will probably like the play features it has but they don't do much for me.

70616 Ice Tank will need an amazing role or sequence in The LEGO NINJAGO Movie to give it the appeal that the set alone lacks. Without some context or awesome feats it can perform as seen on screen, the set unfortunately sits squarely in the wasteland of well executed but boring products, something that is unacceptable at this price. I hope the film changes my opinion, but otherwise this is for completist collectors only.

The standard of The LEGO NINJAGO Movie sets is incredibly high and I think 70616 Ice Tank is slightly disappointing by comparison. It looks splendid on display but includes few play features and the price is not very enticing when sets of a similar size are taken into consideration. Both 70615 Fire Mech and 70617 Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon offer far better value, although the price of the tank is certainly not outrageous.
