Recommendation: yes 5 / 5 by Daniel

I cannot think of a single aspect of 70620 NINJAGO City to improve upon, it is perfection. I have never given a perfect five star score, but that is happening here. Price, value, size, piece count, detail, playability, display, parts usage, build technique – this set deserves a perfect score for every category. The inclusion of connection points hints that the LEGO Group may release more of these sets, perhaps to make an entire city block. Even if they don't and this remains a single NINJAGO City block, it will stand the test of time. At the beginning of this review I urged you to do whatever it takes to acquire this set. In case I didn't emphasise this before – whatever it takes – work a second job, sell your dog, just get this set.

The three levels are jam packed with details and play features that both kids and adults can enjoy. When I first saw the images of the set, I immediately felt that it had a cyberpunk feel to it and it shows just that. Although this is a Ninjago set, you wouldn't think that it is considering that there are only two ninja minifigures in the set and one of those two is just a suit.

Outstanding, best build ever. Every "room" has something clever and amazing (crab cooker, bookshelves, atm). My favorite thing with Lego sets is to see how they used old pieces in new ways, and there's plenty of that in this set. By far blows other sets out of the water. Ewok Village was previously my favorite with all the clever nooks and crannies, but it pales in comparison to this one. Don't hesitate, it's a great deal (should be valued around $500 based on number of pieces). My 10 year old and I built it slowly over a week or so and it was a blast seeing it all come together. We even made a few time-lapse videos just for fun. Really, 100% recommendation.

I have to say that Ninjago City is my favorite LEGO set of all time. That might change some day, but for now I have new reigning champion. This set has an amazing value in terms of bricks and build time. It is crammed full of fun details and play features, and has a really great assortment of Minifigures and accesories. My only complaint about this set is that it has a low brick-to-Minifigure ratio, despite coming with 18 Minifigs. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Ninjago City, even if you are not a Ninjago fan.

Wow! I thought this set looked cool, but then saw a vid where it is combined with the upcoming Ninjago City Docks and that is what pushed me over the edge to get this, and I'm glad I did. (While anticipating the City Docks set to go with it.) You don't have to know the Ninjago as a movie or whatever it is to enjoy this set. If you like the "adult" Legos such as the Architecture and Creator Expert Modular sets you are going to love this one. Lots of great detail, textures, and fun to build. Instructions seem more broken down than in the Modular sets-- i.e. each bag number is only one or two bags, not five or six, so less parts out at one time and not so much sorting required at the start of each section. I know people want printed pieces over using stickers, but I'm finding all the stickers part of the fun of this set, using tweezers to place them on the bricks.

So many amazing details in this set. I could point out dozens of fun bits, but it is so much fun to explore them yourself or to watch other people find them once you have the set on display. I mean, check it out! This is a massive set. I've talked to a number of other AFOLs that have built it and not heard a single complaint. Well worth the time and money.

The standard line of modulars has always impressed me with its advanced construction, but the nostalgic, placid city theme has never interested me. However, Ninjago City is precisely what I've always wanted: it's a cyberpunk modular. This gorgeous structure is rich in details, loaded with fun play features, and tremendously rewarding to build. No matter your expertise level, you're sure to learn a few new techniques while building Ninjago City. And even if you're just eyeing all the new parts, at $299, Ninjago City is a mere $0.06 per piece, or about 40 percent less than the average price-per-piece across LEGO sets.

NINJAGO City is incredible an example of world building at minifigure scale. You can imagine its citizens walking to work, chowing down crab in the restaurant, jumping out of the way of oncoming ninjas, and arguing with the shopkeep in the comic book store. Every part of the city, from the lowly fish market to the rooftop sushi restaurant, has a personality of its own. And for us parts nerds, it's also got new moulds, lots of recolours, and brilliantly inventive parts usage. I haven't enjoyed building a retail set this much in a long time – and it's got me hoping that there's another NINJAGO City block just around the corner.

Only a third of a way through the build and already it's packed with more details and fantastic use of parts than most full LEGO sets. I thought the Destiny's Bounty was this years best set but already NINJAGO City has swiftly taken that crown. Sure it may be out of most peoples price range, but it's certainly worth every single penny. Never have I built a set with so much positivity surrounding it and from what I've built so far, I can see why. The Minifigures are great and fit nicely with the surroundings of the Old World.
