I bought this for my 8 year old son and he loved it. Took him a while to assemble as it comes with a good ammount of pieces which was surprising considering the lower price point compared to other lego brand items. The kit comes with 2 mini figures, a motorcycle, and boat that also shoots projectiles which he thought was amazing! Comes with detailed, step-by-step instructions and numbered build stages bags for ease of assembly. Good price and awesome product!
I love Ninjago. I got the Street Race of Snake Jaguar and the Ninja Nightcrawler from my parents for my birthday, so it was only natural for me to want this set. However, my friend gave it to me, which was nice. This set comes with two minifigs, Kai and Luke Cunningham. Since I've been keeping up with the Season 8 on YouTube, I know who Luke Cunningham is, and he is a pretty cool character to get. Kai is my 4th favorite ninja and he is cool as well. Their weapons are just katanas, nothing special. The bike is just a normal bike but with a couple stickers, as well as a flame coming out of the back, which is quite useful if you want to make Kai use his Elemental Power. The boat itself is awesome. The flick missile launcher thingy can rotate out to shoot or rotate back in to look better. The hood with the katanas is just genius, and Kai has enough space to relax inside the cockpit so that Pixal can drive it for him. Overall this is one of the best sets I've ever had.
The side pods cap off an aerodynamic delight that may barely count as a boat, but so wonderfully gets the mind's imagination going. The LEGO Group twice refer to this set in their product description as a cool toy, and indeed it's cool to look at, it's cool to hold in your hands, and it's cool to play with. It is a cool toy.
I can't really honestly say I like this set. The build itself just doesn't look good to me, and the figure selection is quite small (the equal-priced 70629 Pirahna Attack set, while not the best, has twice as many minifigures). Playability is alright for a model like this, but the price isn't too good.
This set has a lot things going for it. The design is superb, the functions are great and it has a lot of playability. Even at £14.99 RRP it's well worth picking up. I've been out of the Ninjago loop for a while, cherry picking the interesting builds now and then and not getting involved much with the back story or TV series, but I don't need any of that background to enjoy this set and that speaks volumes.
