I do not know how to 'grade' these LEGO items. Therefore I cant say it got 5 stars for the product itself. But, our grandson is deep into the LEGO things... and especially the Star Wars ones. He was VERY PLEASED with this gift! Seemed to have no problem putting it together - - - he looked at the instructions with it... and put it together right away! He is 8. The 5 star is because he thought it was wonderful... and as many as he has . . he would be the one to KNOW if they are great or not!

To conclude, I can't quite put my finger on why, but I didn't find the set as cool as I thought a castle that turns into a flying ship should be! The Castle Tower looks neat and of the two models is the one with most playability. Whilst the Castle Cavalry may not have excited me as much as I thought, it certainly does the job of looking like the Castle Tower has turned into a Flying Cavalry! Also worth mentioning is there are no new elements in this set, but if you need a high number of tiny parts for a good price, then this is the set for you!

The set's only saving grace is the price per parts ratio. $29.99 for 424 pieces is great but the parts selection is a little lackluster. There aren't any new elements in this set but if you need ton of tiny parts, this is the set for you.

You'll have to be the judge if this set is worth getting for you. It does have a lot of parts, most of which are castle-y, so if you're into castle this isn't a terrible parts pack. The minifigures certainly don't sell this one, so you'd have to like the wall model, be a completist on micromanagers, or want to parts to get this.

I guess I was a bit underwhelmed by this set, at least the transformed flying machine. The actual castle gate looks nice and is quite playable. It complements the 70404 King's Castle set quite nicely, with the same colour scheme and scale.

My oldest boy particularly liked the lock on the gates along with how the two towers had differing features. On the downside, he wasn't too impressed with the stability of the cart-come-catapult, which I have to agree on; the design is a bit on the weak side. But overall, having built the two models, we were all pleased enough with the set and impressed they were both made from pretty much the same set of parts.

"Castle Cavalry" is ultimately a pretty fun idea, and of the 2-in-1 sets from this theme, it's the most distinctive, as it turns a fantastical location (not a LEGO City truck) into an alternative vehicle. While the traditional model looks cooler than the creative one, the creative one is so totally unique that I have to give it props. Since I've written this review, "Castle Cavalry" has become one with my bins of pieces, donating a few welcome additions (especially its abundance of SNOT parts and contour bricks), but this is mostly because I've been starting to plan some new fantasy creations, and I saw its pieces as more valuable than its sum.
