Double Decker Couch is one of the standout sets this year for all the right reasons. It's everything you would want in a LEGO set – great characters, a fun build, looks great on display and most importantly, super affordable!
One of the best parts about this set is the five minifigures it comes with. Ghost Vitruvius' cape glows in the dark, Unikitty comes with two interchangeable faces, and Emmet, Benny, and President Business each have double-sided faces for more imaginative play options. Kids will have fun recreating scenes from The LEGO Movie, sitting with Unikitty, grabbing a tasty waffle with Emmet, having a chat with President Business, and more.
For the money, this is a hard set to beat since you get a ton of minifigures. Of course, if you don't have any interest in The LEGO Movie then this set probably isn't for you since there isn't much the set other than the figures. I do like the printed waffle piece a lot - and the top of Vitruvius' staff is nice as well (it's bubble gum from a BlowPop in the movie). The set does come with a number of small extra pieces as well - including an extra 1x1 with a hole in the middle which is a very useful piece to have!
Overall, this set is definitely a winner. Great minifigures, good builds, decent playability, and great value too.
Came as described. Had fun putting together set. Uni Kitty does not stay together well so I did use some Krackle.
The five figures are new and represent all the major characters from the film, other than Wyldstyle, who shows up in the third set released this year, 70819 Bad Cop Car Chase and of course Batman who's in the Super Angry Kitty set so it really is a must-have set for LEGO Movie fans. It's not without its faults, the variation in colour of the medium blue pieces in particular is disappointing, but most buyers won't notice or care about that.
If I'd already purchased Metalbeard's Sea Cow, I may be a little saddened by the repeat Couch build, but probably not. The car, again, isn't extraordinary...but it works really well. No, there weren't enough Uni-parts to make it an ideal trade, but I've got what I need to make something work. There just isn't enough improbability to even consider this as a bad buy.
This set is clearly aimed to supplying a demand after the enormous popularity of The LEGO Movie. I'm sure plenty of kids saw it and wanted the popular characters like Benny and Uni-Kitty, but their parents weren't willing to shell out the big bucks to get the really expensive sets. But now they can get all these great characters and the Double-Decker Couch in one affordable set, so I think this one will be very popular, even for a movie that was released the previous year. Dedicated collectors will be disappointed that the models are basically repeats, but there are still enough unique characters here to make it worthwhile. For the LEGO Movie fan on a budget, I fully recommend this set!
