This was my second lego (first was the Sydney opera house). The details are very exquisite. I personally don't like the stickers and such going on the legos because sometimes they don't go on straight (which also happened here as well), but nonetheless, I still loved this one. Definitely a challenge, since some lego pieces (such as the kitchen table chairs, vacuum, camera, brush, etc) don't have a placeholder, so they tend to move around. The house opens up, the roof is not permanent, so it can easily be removed, and the garage door opens up for the car to go in and out!! Definitely my favorite!!!
This is so AWESOME!! We purchased this for our 11 year old daughter whom has been fighting cancer for the last three years. She had a bone marrow transplant and has been in the hospital more than she has been out. This is perfect for someone who enjoys a challenge and needs something they can do while in bed. I highly recommend this as a gift for a child that has to spend time in the hospital. The bonus is that once they have completed building the set, they can play with it for days. It includes the entire family and even their car! Plus tons of small details that make it very playable and extra special
This set is a long build, but a fun one. While the LEGO Simpsons House isn't identical to that of the show, the spirit is certainly there and it's close enough to be a faithful adaptation, even if not exact. The rooms are well-done, the garden adds to the whole environment, and the garage, too, has a good amount of detail. While some minifigures are missing (the dog, for example), that's just a matter of preference, as they do not really remove from the enjoyment of the set.
This is an unusual set in that it doesn't fit in line with the other sets by Lego. It is a licensed stand-alone exclusive that suits the tastes of serious builders. At the same time, the numerous details make this a great playset as well for the kids. The interior is the true highlight of the set, featuring numerous well-designed details and detachable furniture.
If you are a Simpsons fan, this set is an obvious winner. I am very happy with it, even given the cost, and am satisfied that justice has been done in the design of this iconic location. While there are certainly inaccuracies, they are acceptable in my opinion to keep costs down. If you are seeking to construct an absolutely accurate model, a second set and a few extra pieces should suffice, and I look forward to seeing some MOCs which capture every element of 742 Evergreen Terrace.
