Shark Suit Guy is a minifig that I really like. He doesn't come with standard arms, but has fins instead. He also has an alternate, terrified face. I plan to add a zoo one day to my city, so these animal costume minifigs will make great mascots. Out of all the animal related minifigs so far, this one is my favorite though. The shark headpiece is a really fun design.
Lovingly referred to as "Left Shark" thanks to Katy Perry's Superbowl performance last year, the Shark Suit Guy is adorably awesome. I think LEGO knows that people love minifigures in animal costumes - and from what I've seen the Shark Suit guy has already proven to be incredibly popular.
Shark Suit Guy is a winner from nearly every aspect, blending humour, pop culture into a very worthy Animal Suit minifigure. Left Shark will most likely fade into obscurity as fast as he rocketed to internet face, but we will forever have Shark Suit Guy in our LEGO collections.
A couple weeks ago, I showed the old SNL Land Shark sketch to my 4.5 year old daughter. She immediately fell in love with the silly stupidity of having a shark leap out from behind a door and eat a poor unsuspecting woman who thinks she's having a pizza delivered. And being a kid, she also loves Legos. So when I found this little dude here on Amazon, I had to get it for her. It's a pretty typical Lego minifig. Sure, it's a bit expensive for what it is, but it's a cute novelty. 5 stars because... well... it's awesome!
I've said this before, but LEGO has continued to step up their game with the Collectible Minifigures theme and Series 15 (71011) does not disappoint. There are some minifigures that are more sought after than others but I see every single one of them having a place somewhere in the LEGO universe and in many MOCed themes.
The parts assortment is average, but the main focal is the entire design of this shark costume suit. The surprising thing about this character is the inclusion of an alternate facial appearance and he look very fearful of something coming towards him. I wonder what could that be.
So my overall thoughts are its a damn good series I think we only got 4 weak minifigures, the rest were high quality. My top 4 were the farmer, Animal Control Officer, shark suit guy and the wrestler. Each time you wonder what LEGO can come up with next and yet they continue to really impress me. I love new elements that can be used in my own creations and series 15 is packed with them.
It is worth mentioning that there are five female figures here to the eleven males, which is a fairly standard ratio now even though there are plenty of opportunities to make it an even split. The handicap guy is something fans have responded to well, pairing well with the upcoming wheelchair figure. The Shark Guy is pretty fun. We get a couple of animals. Everyone has their favorites, though most of the popular figs come with large odds in favor of fans. Basically, there is a little of something here for everyone, which is the best thing to be said about any Collectible Minifigure Series.
The center of the controversy, if there is a controversy. I keep reading about this guy causing some problems with his resemblance of "Left Shark" of Katy Perry fame. The whole thing sounds ridiculous and untrue to me. As a figure he's pretty fun, just like all the other costumed figures we've enjoyed over the years.
This series is shaping up quite nicely, with a broad range of excellent minifigs.
