This was easily one of the most fun sets I've built since the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set. It had so many little bits of excellent building that it would be fun to put together even if you're not a big fan of the show. Being a fan just takes the enjoyment and cranks it way up. There's also a huge variety of parts that are typically somewhat rare or only in certain lines, or new color varieties, or just some great printing.
The set is for LEGO and Simpsons fans, ages 12 and up. We think fans of the show around 6 and up will want to play with the completed set, but will need help building it. Adult fans, and Simpsons collectors, are going to love this one.
Continue bringing out the Simpson's sets. As a Lego and Simpson's fan these sets bring two items together that I love. Would really like to see sets for Springfield Elementary, Moe's Tavern, The Nuclear Power Plant, as well as many others.
I would call this one of the best LEGO sets currently available on the market and in line with the Modular Buildings; for the younger crowd (excluding the price.)
Lego has out done themselves! Okay, we know that's an understatement. They continue to come out with awesome cross promotional limited editions like the Simpsons house and this amazing Kwik-E-Mart. If you've been around the Simpsons, which now is impossible to avoid or heard of, then you, like me, know all the details of this set by heart. Lots of custom pieces just for the simpsons. It's of course a little bit pricey for my budget but it was worth it. It can be collected over a long period of time. Probably will be worth a pretty penny in the future. I bought two. One to play with, and one to just collect. You won't be disappointed. Looks beautiful displayed on any shelf or table. Just make sure you keep it away from the little ones or your pieces will disappear! Keep it up Lego! Get this for your collection now! Super fun to build for Simpsons fans! Watch them blocks come alive!
Honestly, I think this set is perfect. The price is fantastic, and has a great PPP ratio. They really went above and beyond by including Snake in this set. I honestly think it's better than the Simpsons House in terms of accuracy and the value here- so many cool pieces printed and in exclusive colors.
Once finished, the set looks excellent. The two back quarters fold open in a way that will feel familiar to those who owned classic Castle back in the 1980s, or indeed now. The central hidden flat roof section with Apu's secret garden is removable to allow impressive access to the inside. Even if you are not a Simpsons fan this is a great parts pack; lots of groceries and a nice selection in some key colours. Black, the two Greys, Blue, Orange, Yellow and of course Dark Orange are served particularly well. I've not told you every last detail, partly because there are so many and partly because if you have the set you will want to experience them for yourself. After all if this was a film review you would not me to give away the ending would you?
LEGO designer Marcos Bessa is a self-professed Simpsons fan and mentions that he was the driving force behind LEGO producing the theme. His love of the show is on full display with this model. In many ways, I view the Kwik-E-Mart as a superior set to The Simpsons House. It is replete with show references that fans will appreciate. And setting aside those references, it can just as easily assume its place in a LEGO city as a convenience store. It's fun, colorful, and provides ample play opportunity -- all the characteristics of a quintessential LEGO set.
