Superman fans are bound to be delighted by how well designed Jor-El is and that we now have a more retro version as opposed to the Man of Steel minifig which was kind of plain. This Jor-El oozes so much more character and authority, making it one of my top picks from Batman Movie Series 2.
A neat figure who is accurate to the LEGO Batman Movie variant, and good for fans of Superman.
I am having mixed feelings with this batch of release, largely because I think is due to repetitive characters in just mere different outfits. The biggest push factor for me to acquire is more of the association of DC Comics license characters and the love of Batman. The whole series stand out pretty well as a group, but as an individual designed character, it might be less appealing despite of 20 minifigures designs.
If you manage to get a complete unopened box of Series 2 The LEGO Batman Movie Collectible Minifigures (71020), you'll be able to get three complete sets of 20 minifigures each. For me, my favorite minifigures in this wave are Vacation Joker, Doctor Phosphorus, and Bat-Merch Batgirl. The only odd one out is probably Mermaid Batman as that one is just pure randomness and doesn't really fit with anything in particular.
Some have questioned why we needed a second series of minifigures based on the movie and I partly agree. That doesn't mean there aren't some fun little characters in the series, many of which wouldn't appear in minifigure form anywhere else.
I quite enjoyed this collection of figures, especially the more obscure members of the super friends, and cartoonish villains, which the movie dealt with well. Who would have thought Mermaid Batman was a thing almost 70 years before the movie?
I have a mixed sensations with this series of minifigs. Perhaps because I am not a hardcore fan of comics, I see that there are some very interesting minifigures and accessories, but others they don't really appeal to me. Putting aside this personal opinion, the minifigures are excellent. The new parts, the prints and the variety of colors and characters is excellent. It is an opportunity, for instance, to complete the Joker Manor, with the Disco characters or the Justice League Anniversary party set, with the Party characters.
This time around, the focus is a bit more broad, bringing in lots of other characters, many of whom had only cameo appearances in the film. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get our hands on a full case to see the breakdown of how common each figure is, but we have no reason to suspect that LEGO has changed up the previous equal distribution of three of each character per case, making three full sets in a case of 60.
