I think this minifigure is exceptional. I loved the idea when the rumor first surfaced of a brick suit guy, though I admit he is not exactly like how I imagined he would be. Still, he is a very good minifigure and I highly recommend him, especially since he wears one of the most iconic LEGO designs ever – the LEGO Brick itself.
To conclude, the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 has continued successfully surprised us with another new level of design creativity.
The concept of the LEGO Brick Suit Guy is a relatively simple but effective one. It's probably THE most iconic costume in this entire series, given that the character is literally dressed up as a LEGO mascot. The utility of this minifigure and most importantly this costume will go a long, long way, especially because it's compatible within the LEGO system.
For me, my favorites of Series 18 are the Party Clown, Dragon Suit Guy, Birthday Cake Guy, Race Car Guy, and Cowboy Costume Guy. The LEGO Brick Suit costumes are interesting and I do like how they are able to connect to other bricks.
With each new series of LEGO Minifigures, the LEGO Design Team seem to outdo themselves and you would expect them to have run out of ideas, but they have come out swinging for the 40th anniversary of the Minifigure. The new elements are great and it will be interesting to see where they appear next. The additional of an orange baseplate is definitely welcomed although it would of been nice to have the LEGO Minifigures 40th anniversary logo printed on it or even included in a tile. Despite a few minor gripes, this series of LEGO Minifigures is a fitting and fun way to celebrate the 40th anniversary and it's always nice to have a non-licensed series after so many recent ones being based on movies.
Series 18 isn't the first series to feature costumed characters. That began with Series 3's Gorilla Suit Guy, who is arguably the first “minifigure in a costume." Throughout the CMF's history, the costumed characters have been among the most popular, especially with kids, and this series finally indulges costume fans by putting nearly all of its characters in some sort of suit. In keeping with the festive style, this is also the first regular series to use non-black minifigure stands, featuring orange unprinted stands with all of the characters.
The LEGO Brick Suit Guy has a red 2x3 brick torso (it's a modified torso NOT a "cover up" like most of the other costumed figures in the series). He also comes with a 1x1 blue plate which is a rather lame accessory but it works alright for the figure.
I love many of the accessories and head pieces included with this series, but my favourite would be the tile that comes with the young boy: it is printed with as small a representation as you could come up with to be a representation of the packet that the series one figures appeared in years ago. Also up there would have to be the balloon animals. As for my favourite figures? it is a toss up for me between the cowboy, the dragon and the two figures dressed up as LEGO Bricks!
This costume matches real 2x3 bricks almost exactly, with 'LEGO' embossed on each stud as well as two tubes on the underside. These are much shallower than those inside a real brick but you can still attach other LEGO pieces to the front and back of this minifigure so there is considerable potential for customisation.
In our opinion the LEGO Minifigures Series 18 collection is the best that's been released and we're sure many of our readers will agree. With so many unique minifigures and a costume party vibe, they will be fun to play with and display.
