We had a lot of fun with these Lego minifigures. We just love the details, like the Golden Snitch, Voldemort's snake Nagini and even Newt's Niffler and case.
Ready yourself for this new amazing Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts minifigures to see such an exciting licensed minifigure theme. Definitely worth the wait.
The Lego Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts characters were Best Toy of 2018. They are now retired. These were the only characters we were missing. They came quickly, perfectly sealed, and when opened all pieces were present. Reasonably priced, except for Jonny Depp character. But it's Jonny Depp and we knew he was difficult from the start. :)Thank you!
The double-identity minifigure is pretty cool and I really enjoy this concept, which like Mad-Eye Moody effectively means that you get an extra unique character. Percival Graves was (to me) the standout character in the movie, largely due to Collin Farrell's electric charisma, and I was a little disappointed that he turned into Johnny Depp at the end, but I'm largely very happy with his inclusion as a character. On the rarity front, which has LEGO continuing the trend that began in Series 18 of including a super rare one-in-a-box minifigure, I'm starting to dislike it more and more. For a special commemorative series like Series 18, sure, add it in as a gimmick, but for a pivotal series like Harry Potter, this is a calculated money-making move.
I like the ability to switch back and forth from Graves to Grindelwald, but the hairpieces are not accurate and there's nothing super amazing about this figure to me.
As I look over all of these fantastic figures, I find myself asking the question “Why is Voldemort, the only character depicted without a nose in the movies, the only figure with nostrils printed on his head?" With only one figure per box, and two characters incorporated in that figure, Percival Graves/ Gellert Grindelwald will be the greatest challenge for serious collectors. You can find two series of the Harry Potter specific figures in every box, but the Fantastic Beasts figures are harder too complete.
A whole box of 71022 Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Collectable Minifigures will contain only one Percival Graves minifigure, following the recent example of the Classic Police Officer from Series 18. This is somewhat disappointing as the Auror is among the most detailed figures in the series, wearing a dark blue scarf and an elegant jacket with a white lining that continues on the torso and legs. His arms are also decorated with white stripes.
Other than the distribution ratio of the minifigures, I'm very satisfied with the variety of characters that we get in this set. Most of them don't appear in the standard system sets so just them being in random packs makes them more sought after. This is the second Collectible Minifigures set that LEGO has released to include a “chase" minifigure and it doesn't look to be stopping anytime soon so we'll just have to get used to seeing more of them in future sets.
LEGO has done an excellent job with this series, filling in many gaps and bringing new life to many woefully outdated characters. The multitude of new elements is in keeping with the traditional CMF series, and the detail on the characters is excellent. We didn't notice any of the plastic quality issues that have sometimes plagued CMFs, which is a refreshing turn.
