We had a lot of fun with these Lego minifigures. We just love the details, like the Golden Snitch, Voldemort's snake Nagini and even Newt's Niffler and case.
Ready yourself for this new amazing Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts minifigures to see such an exciting licensed minifigure theme. Definitely worth the wait.
I like the face print but the hairpiece really doesn't suit him, which is quite a major letdown for me.
shame about Ron Weasley's look. The hair just doesn't work for me as it looks like Ron spends hours in the morning getting his hair done, where it should be unkempt and fairly messy. With the limitations of printing minifig faces, I can understand not getting Ron's slightly mousey look right, but I'm a little disappointed with this minifigure. Bit of a shame as I consider Ron to be one of the weakest minifigs in the series.
As I look over all of these fantastic figures, I find myself asking the question “Why is Voldemort, the only character depicted without a nose in the movies, the only figure with nostrils printed on his head?" With only one figure per box, and two characters incorporated in that figure, Percival Graves/ Gellert Grindelwald will be the greatest challenge for serious collectors. You can find two series of the Harry Potter specific figures in every box, but the Fantastic Beasts figures are harder too complete.
Ron Weasley is also based upon Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, as demonstrated by his scruffy hair style and Gryffindor tie which look perfect when compared with the movie. This hair piece was originally designed for Han Solo but is ideal for Ron and I think it looks even better in dark orange than it does in reddish brown, perhaps because the textured detail is more visible against a brighter colour.
Other than the distribution ratio of the minifigures, I'm very satisfied with the variety of characters that we get in this set. Most of them don't appear in the standard system sets so just them being in random packs makes them more sought after. This is the second Collectible Minifigures set that LEGO has released to include a “chase" minifigure and it doesn't look to be stopping anytime soon so we'll just have to get used to seeing more of them in future sets.
LEGO has done an excellent job with this series, filling in many gaps and bringing new life to many woefully outdated characters. The multitude of new elements is in keeping with the traditional CMF series, and the detail on the characters is excellent. We didn't notice any of the plastic quality issues that have sometimes plagued CMFs, which is a refreshing turn.
