Love this version of Rex since it reminds me of an old west cowboy, also love this little actual blue raptor as well. Came as described
This entire series is an outstanding release with minor rant such as the repeated inclusion of Unikitty design. Overall, I would said this is quite a remarkable release including fulfilling the distribution ratio with 3 complete sets in a sealed box. This alone, is a huge winner to ensure the distribution spread is done appropriately. Furthermore, I also noted with the minifigure neck marking increased the tightness and grip of the head and neck. This is actually great for CMFs which was previously lacking.
Overall The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) series is a pretty interesting one with a number of characters that you wouldn't really expect to see in one of the sets. My favorite one is probably the Giraffe guy as well as the Wizard of Oz crew which are some popular ones among fans. There are also some questionable inclusions such as Emmet and Unikitty. Do we really need another of their variants even though they have been heavily featured in the sets and Unikitty in her series from last year?
The only new major character from The LEGO Movie 2 to feature in the CMF series, Vest Friend Rex is a cool guy with a tough attitude who's got what it takes to always get it done, and a bit of charm to boot. Rex's dark blue fedora is dual molded with his dark brown shaggy hair. LEGO's ability to seamlessly molded colors together to achieve decorations without printing is improving each year, and Rex's hat/hairpiece is a prime example. The dark brown vest that stretches around hat's crown is molded in with only the pockets and zipper being printed.
I found a few surprises looking through the set, especially with the UV: Bright Green seems to be particularly Bright. I wonder how other elements in this colour look?. Orange is inconsistent: some versions of Bright Orange Fluoresce, others do not. Likewise red: I have some fuselage elements joined together at home: some fluoresce, others don't! Some ‘Bright' colours don't seem to glow at all. Overall, it's a pretty diverse collection!
The bands around his wrists are splendid and I love the dark brown vests worn over each trouser leg. Rex also includes a fedora hat and even that is dressed in a dark brown vest. However, my favourite aspect of this minifigure is the double-sided head which includes two smiling expressions along with some stubble. These designs are reminiscent of the unusual Alpha Team minifigures and both look incredibly exaggerated, thereby reflecting Rex's extreme personality!
