My son loved this toy. He played with all day. I would definitely recommend this product to all of my family and friends.
71735 Tournament of Elements is a terrific set, plain and simple. If you're at all into the style of build and funky, colourful figures, it's certainly one to pick up.
Tournament of Elements (71735) is primarily a Minifigure set. AFOL collectors gain a lot of fun, detailed characters as well as a collectible golden ninja. Additionally, the bricks included are useful for Ninjago-style MOCs. Unfortunately, the set does not offer much in terms of new bricks, techniques, or details though. For the price, the LEGO® group should have included more bricks for greater detailing. This set is worth the buy if you are a minifig collector.
While the minifigures are deserving of considerable attention, their environment should not be overlooked. This model includes some interesting architectural features and certainly captures the atmosphere of Chen's palace, despite comprising relatively few pieces. I love the scattered Jadeblades as well, even though they differ from their classic appearance.
Overall, the main selling point for the LEGO Ninjago Legacy Tournament of Elements (71735) are the minifigures which includes the exclusive 10th anniversary Golden Lloyd. The build itself is okay and there are minimal play features. I think the best one is the spinner rod which really says a lot about the set itself that it goes back to it being a larger minifigure pack.
I was a bit late to the Ninjago party, so I've been pretty happy with the Legacy theme as a way to enjoy updated versions of key sets from the past. This set in particular has been a favorite, as getting a slew of new and previously-unseen characters was a real treat. The non-minifigure side of this set is a decent build for a set this size, with some cool and interesting parts and even a few surprising construction details.
71735 Tournament of Elements is all about the minifigures and there's no hiding from that. The model that you build is a simple but effective backdrop, designed for minimal interactivity. It looks great but knows its place among a gang of colourful minifigures, some of which are highly desirable and all of which are excellently detailed in design and perfectly at home within the confines of this conflict-driven set.
