The wait was very much worth it. This builds upon what made Ninjago City so good and elevates it by honoring Ninjago's history. It's clear that so much love and attention went into designing this set and with references not just from Ninjago, there's so many little secrets to discover.

Amazing design. Amazing build. Great assortment of figs. Intricate level of detail everywhere you look. It was pure joy to build and I cannot recommend this set highly enough. Kudos to the design team on this one!

Ninjago City Gardens (71741) is a cool set. However, I did not like it as much as Ninjago City. This set comes at a slightly better value than its predecessor. However, it is structurally inferior. There are loose bits everywhere. Additionally, accessing the interiors is hard, and the museum is a flop. I also feel like some of the bells and whistles are missing in this set. The Minifigures are nice though, and you get the golden Sensei Wu. On top of that, Ninjago City Gardens is an amazing value. On display, the set looks wonderful. Perhaps there was too much hype before this set came out. Perhaps it is just not as good as Ninjago City. Either way, I liked it, but it did not blow me away.

It's great to see a varied spread of characters included in the set and so many of them. I also like that all the main ninja characters are included this time around. Inclusions such as Clutch Powers, The Mechanic and Ronin are also great. Some of the lesser-known characters aren't that inspiring. I'd have much rather lost of couple of Minifigures to have a couple more known characters or exclusive torsos. That being said they all help bring a little life to the already impressively detailed NINJAGO City Gardens, especially those used in the build of the set.

70620 NINJAGO City and 70657 NINJAGO City Docks seem absolutely magnificent together, featuring consistent architecture and design techniques. I imagine the models were designed almost concurrently, given their close integration and release. 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens has evidently been developed separately and that does become apparent when placing them together in my opinion.

All these impressive uses of elements, really add to the appearance of the set but also result in a great build experience. Opening a bag of elements to being greeted by masses of sausages or treasure chest lids and then seeing how they are incorporated into the section you are building is delightful.

70620 NINJAGO City and 70657 NINJAGO City Docks each encapsulate the extraordinary creativity and detail which distinguish the greatest LEGO models. The construction of 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens undoubtedly maintains this sensational standard, featuring countless innovative building techniques and unprecedented variety. In fact, that considerable variation between architectural styles ensured that this was among my favourite building experiences!

71741 Ninjago City Gardens is a showstopper of a set. Huge, colorful, and striking, this set commands attention and leaves the viewer awestruck. It is a master class in advanced building techniques, and continues to associate the Ninjago City subtheme with the premiere in LEGO-building conceptualization and ingenuity. While Ninjago City Gardens is larger and newer than its predecessors, in some ways it feels a bit less polished and less interactive; but this is easily forgiven, as it's still an amazing build and the kind of set I want to see more of from LEGO!

70620 NINJAGO City and 70657 NINJAGO City Docks are widely discussed among the best modern LEGO sets and considerable expectation accordingly followed their successor, 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens. Fortunately, I think the model is absolutely incredible! The details and creative construction methods are unmatched, even by those previous sets in my opinion.

Ultimately, Ninjago City Gardens isn't great because it's a good parts pack. It's great because it's clear that the design directive for LEGO Designer Markus Rollbühler was to make an excellent set the way a fan would–with care given to the details and nothing spared if it meant a better result. If this is what we have to look forward to in the next ten years of Ninjago, then bring it on.

Full of reference and reverence, 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens is a knowing tribute to the first decade of a LEGO theme like no other. The very energy and creativity that has driven NINJAGO for the last 10 years is wonderfully captured across a mammoth build, making for an inviting final model both in play and display.

It may not be as compact and ‘solid' as the original NINJAGO City set but it's just as detailed and uses parts in amazingly inventive ways. It really is the perfect celebration of the NINJAGO series as it features plenty of fun Easter Eggs not just connected to NINJAGO but the wider LEGO universe. I'm also impressed by the fact the set perfectly matches up to the previous two NINJAGO City sets despite being based on a completely different version of the franchise.
