The most exciting aspects, for me, are the new molds and the abundance of tan and dark tan pieces. The new character heads and torsos, and the new Anubis, scarab and headdress molds are going to be fantastic additions the palette of the MOCer who likes Fantasy, Castle and Adventure themes. Collectors will be happy with the classic feel and sturdy build, as will kids with the action features and characters. The amount of new molds and abundance of parts in great colors make this an excellent set for parts monkeys too!
I am generally happy with this LEGO set. I like the theme, and the minifigures are wonderful. However, here are some points that I am not too happy about: 1. Why stickers? It would have been a much nicer set had LEGO use only printed/painted bricks. A painted base plate would have been really awesome. Yet, LEGO chose that cheaper way and used stickers. Not cool, in my opinion. I am not a kid and don't care about stickers; I want durable, painted bricks. 2. I know I am getting only a half pyramid, with the back entirely exposed. However, it would have been really, really awesome to get a full pyramid, with all sides openable. 3. More golden weapons and accessories. 4. Did I mention that the extensive use of stickers? That makes the set less durable. Not happy. Print all bricks! If you want stickers, buy a sticker book!
