This is an intricate Lego build that provided a nice challenge for my self-proclaimed Lego-expert six-year-old. A Lego-head and Star Wars fan, this mostly-gray creation was dubbed "epic" and took him about three hours to complete on his own. (Sometimes I think he's a Lego savant. He's better at it than I am, that's for sure.) Like all Lego creations it was a little delicate for rowdy play, but as we always say in our house, "the best thing about Legos is that when they break, you can fix them." The Lego Star Wars line, one of their longest-running series, continues to produce exciting and intricate builds for both Lego-heads and sci-fi fans. Now if I can just talk my son out of wanting this ridiculously expensive LEGO Star Wars Death Star (10188).
An enjoyable set as a whole, although probably not the best when compared with other sets available at a similar price point.
This is definately an improvement over our last two AT-TE's but there is still the problem of having the big gaps in the sides and bottom.
Parts-wise, I'm not sure it can justify the $90 price tag, even with 794 pieces It's a somewhat deceptive number, with plenty of technic parts and the like (that gun on top is probably 70 parts in total), especially if you own the superior older version. Yes, you get three figures that are unique in this set, with Coleman being the most unique of them.
This is a set of a popular model from the Clone Wars, so it's no surprise that it's also the 3rd time LEGO produced the set. Unfortunately it does not have significant play features or include many minifigures. However, fans of the series will probably still be interested in obtaining a copy as it make for a decent display model. If you're a builder, then this set does not have much to offer in terms of part variety besides the standard grey parts.
