Encounter on Jakku

I got this build since it was on sale, and it's actually really nice. It's a simple build, just the shop, the luggabeast, and the figures. But there is so much detailed packed in. For example, there's the B1 battle droid parted out across the place, spare parts that can be used for portions and scrap, and even enough spare parts to make a second staff for Rey (which I've put behind the counter for fatso Onkar himself). The Teedo you get is nicely detailed, though my only complaint is that it's the same size as the others; but this is LEGO, so not too many points docked there. I happen to have some short legs in his colour to "fix" it. All-in-all, it's a decent set, but don't expect too much play value, since all you can really recreate are either the "Sixty Portions!" scene, or the bombing run. more less

This set has lots of cool detail that recreates the desert planet scenes from The Force Awakens. Kids can play out what they saw in the movie or imagine all-new stories. And even though it's fun for kids to play with, it's also fun for adult fans and collectors to build and display. more less

The biggest problem with this set far and away is the price. If it wasn't for such a hefty price tag given the size of the set, it would be fantastic for what it is. The minifigures are great, especially Teedo and Unkar. Fantastic moulding and fine additions to my collection. For the price tag, Constable Zuvio or maybe another of Jakku's may odd-looking aliens could have been included. The set itself is a decent set piece. The printed sheet is wonderfully done and the finished product looks good. Maybe some work benches or one of the other little stalls would have made this feel like a more complete Niima Outpost. The Luggabeast is also fantastic, detailed and looks just like it does in the film. It might have been nice to see a Happabore and the fountain, maybe even including Finn, which would have made it worth the price tag. Overall, it's a decent little set, but I would recommend only getting it when in the sale. more less

I had high expectations for the minifigures as well as the Luggabeast and am delighted with those aspects of the set. Unkar Plutt's concession stand seemed less appealing in images but I actually like the model very much as it gives a good impression of being constructed using salvaged materials while also being sturdy and faithful to the movie. For that reason I certainly recommend this set to fans of The Force Awakens. more less
