I bought this model in anticipation of Episode VII. It is one the least expensive of the new sets, but it is really cool and a good value (still, $5-$7 cheaper would have been better). The ship itself comes together quickly, but it's a sturdy model with plenty of detail. There are quite a few stickers. I don't mind them, and they do add to the look of the ship. I like the three separate areas - cockpit, back space, and side compartment. The figures are also great. It's a new Finn (at least different from the one included in the MF), and a new figure altogether, Rose Tico. Plus BB-8. I can't wait to see how the ship features in Episode VIII, which I'm sure will only increase my enjoyment of the model.
Once pieced together, this vehicle and minifigures set offers the same great post-build play you'd want and expect from any LEGO Star Wars set but we love that there are so many great features for roleplay built right into this small scale. Plus the inclusion of a brand new Star Wars character adds to its collectibility.
The build experience overall was good, it's a nice easy build and quite fun to do, nothing feels dull or repetitive. I will say though that for those who aren't a fan of stickers, this is not the set for you as there are a total of 15 stickers, which is pretty extreme for such a small set. The set itself has some nice little features such as removeable panels to reveal thermal detonators and the top lifts away to reveal space for BB-8. The main thruster at the back can be turned which in turn rotates the stud shooter on the side of the ship. There are also 2 spring loaded shooters which are excellently hidden and are fired via a mechanism inside the ship which is activated by a small circular piece located just below the stud shooter on the side of the ship. The minifigures are great though, the new Finn looks great with the new leg and torso printing. He also has a new double sided head print - one face incredibly happy and the other incredibly distressed. I personally would've preferred it more if one of the faces was more solemn. The new Rose minifigure is fantastic, she has some excellent printing on her torso and head and the hairpiece is also very good. The third minifigure is BB-8 which is the same as in every set, there's no change and there doesn't need to be. I think the main issue with this set is the pricing - £39.99 is just too much for what it actually is. I feel that £29.99 or even £24.99 is a more reasonable pricing for the set, otherwise I'd happily give it full marks despite the gripes I have with it.
There are just a few things I had wished LEGO would have done: include 1 more figure, include fewer stickers, and mainly perhaps come up with a more original model to release.
I like this set. The minifigures are all good, and the build is great as well. Almost every inch of space in the pod is put to good use. However, the price is a killer. This set costs the same as 70911 Water Strider which is absolutely outrageous.
This is a nice, new vehicle to add to the LEGO Star Wars universe, if not the most exciting new design. In its small size it manages to pack in a couple of play features and an all-new character. As the lowest priced set in the LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi subtheme, this makes for a suitable entry point.

This set has definitely surpassed my expectations. I find the inelegant shape of the Resistance Transport Pod to be quite charming and the use of space inside is excellent as seats, storage space and play features are packed in wherever possible. The minifigure selection is equally impressive as I think Finn has been considerably improved since making his first appearance in 75105 Millennium Falcon and Rose is currently exclusive to this set.
