Brick-built Minions and their Lair

These are an absolute must buy for fans of the franchise, they are great display models (I'm keeping Bob and Stuart on my shelf for a while). And should also be high on your list when looking for sets for that age of kid where they're starting to get the hang of more challenging builds but aren't ready for some larger, more complex sets. It was the perfect challenge for my 6 year old but a little too delicate for my 4 year old. However you feel about Minions I guarantee you will have fun building these, especially if you have kids. more less

This set was a positive surprise for me in many ways. The problematic 75549 Minions: Unstoppable Bike Chase came in at nearly 15 cents/part, which made me a bit nervous when I started to run the calculation for this set. But at 876 pieces for just $49.99 US, this set shows an amazing difference at under six cents a piece. That's a great value for anyone looking for parts kits and, as noted above, there are a lot of great new elements and recolors to be had here. And all the builds are fun and character-accurate. The play features are well designed and just the right level of goofy-cute. Pretty much a “win" on every metric. more less

This set is much more fun, coming in at 876 elements and although it is a basic, relatively unremarkable build I found an innate satisfaction in building curved LEGO walls and topping the lot with quarter-domes. Despite the differences between the Minions' insides, it does get repetitive if you build all 3 yourself so this is definitely a good one to share with friends and family. more less

When the sets based on the film were first revealed, this one gained the most attention. After building it, I totally understand why. I quite like the way it is a combination of being a display piece and a playset. For older LEGO fans you can have those loveable yellow chaps sitting on your desk or shelf, and younger LEGO fans can play out their own wacky Minions adventures. more less
