The Upside Down

Since the Upside Down is just a spookier version of the real world, you are essentially assembling the same build twice. This might seem like it would get old fast, but the details throughout either world is what keeps LEGO builders and Stranger Things fans entertained throughout. more less

It's easily up there with my all time favourites. The price is not cheap, but I think it's excusable. The parts included are superb, and there's enough to build a very decent house for a street, even if you don't use the parts for the Upside Down half. This set is sure to sell like hotcakes, and will fetch a great price on the secondary markets when it retires in the future. more less

In summary, the positives still outweighs the negatives by a large margin. Looking at the value and creative inspiration that this set brings, it's definitely in my top 10 sets to buy in 2019. The set tries to capture 2 seasons worth of materials with a bonus season 3 easter egg so fans will appreciate all the details included in the set. It's not perfect but it's definitely worth checking out. more less

This set is an absolute must for any Stranger Things fan. The level of detail that has gone into it is brilliant. I don't get all these poor reviews stating it collapses when the 2 sides are put together. Instructions are detailed and the end result is amazing. more less

The set employs interesting build techniques, has some great new parts on the Minifigures; it's also a build unlike anything I've built before, with a truly original layout and amazingly creative design. I'd even go as far as to say it's one of the best sets I've built in a few years. more less

Although I am not a big fan of the series I have seen it and the set has reminded me of a number of episodes. The minifigures are really well done, especially those that have new hair elements. I also like the fact that the boys use the new articulated short legs. more less

Other than the few niggly comments about minifig hair I raised in part one I really have no other complaints at all. It's one of designer Justin Ramsden's finest. Even the price of $199.99 / £179.99 / 199.99€ feels very reasonable for a 2,287 piece model with eight minifigures. more less

The Upside Down delivers nostalgia and fun in heaps. This is the most fun I've had building a set and its details since the excellent Ninjago City and Ninjago City Docks. This is the first time that I'm aware that LEGO has built a significant portion of a model upside down, much less withstand repeated flipping without a hitch. I can hardly imagine LEGO having attempted this set a few years ago, or if they had, pulling it off nearly this well. The continued influence of fan designs and fans-turned-designer on the LEGO company's official sets is paying off in a big way. more less

In all, 75810 The Upside Down is not an Ideas set, nor a Creator Expert one. It borrows from both themes' identities and creates its own indelible mark on the current LEGO roster - this is a detailed, skillful recreation of its source material, offering a new direction for LEGO building. The LEGO Group has been making noises for a while about targeting the older LEGO fan, and this is a pretty solid set to back such sentiments with. more less

The price tag of $199.99 may deter folks from immediately picking it up but I would say it is worth it considering you're getting over two thousand pieces and eight minifigures. There's also a lot of new pieces and also existing parts in new colors. more less
