I got this set for my son's 6th birthday as a gift. He loves it!! He loves any flying objects, cars, motorcycles, trains as well as dinosaurs. I also got this set as a gift for a friend's 6 year old son as well and he loves it, too. He built it by himself with minimal help in about 2 hours and plays with it all the time. It's his new favorite Lego set.
This set is great for fans of Jurassic World, it's also a nice parts pack. There's one exclusive minifigure in here too which makes it even better.
The LEGO Pteranodon is one of the LEGO Jurassic World dinosaur figures and features soft, bendable pieces. The minifigures come with accessories including tranquilizers and a tranquilizer weapon. The helicopter has a working rotor, working cockpit canopy with room for one minifigure in the cockpit, a side seat for the trooper or other minifigure, and a net blaster that launches the net by pushing the plunger.
Overall, the set isn't terrible but that's my bias speaking. I have a thing for LEGO aircraft and the helicopter model is neat if you take off the two side weapons and made it look like a normal helicopter. It falls below the magical price per part ratio but you do get a new pteranodon model.
Having a soft-spot for helicopters I really wanted to like this set, and while it's an okay model, a couple of things annoy me: the gun on the side that only points upwards and the stickers on textured parts that will not last 5 minutes. The net firing gimmick is well implemented and adds a lot of playability, I admit, but overpowers the overall look of the craft. Also, I don't care for the one piece landing skid: it's too juniorised for my liking, or the rotor blades. The dinosaur and minifigs are excellent though and, let's face it, that's what most AFOLs will be buying this set for.
