Both my boys, 7 & 11, love Legos and build as many sets as we are willing to get them, from just about every category. This was a nice mix of movie tie-in—though they have obviously have yet to see the movie, both are excited by the previews—and my older son loved the fairly intricate house, complete with interior details, while my younger liked how many mini figures and dinos came in this set. Once assembled this allows for a good bit of imaginative play with the people and dinosaurs interacting in, and being able to destroy (and then rebuild) parts of the house at will. Overall a nice, intricate set that offers a good bit of fun both in the building, and the post-assembly play stages.

Building wasn't so bad and seeing all the features was REALLY cool and it didn't take me that long, which is GOOD, and I got for my birthday. So, at first I built it and dada sorted out the pieces, aaaand um after days and days and days Lockwood Estates isn't torn down yet, so... My friend mason really wants to tear it down, he likes to look at the stuff like the motorcycle. He doesn't really like dinosaurs. There's a hiding under the bed feature and that's everything! And I'm five years old.

Indoraptor Rampage is a satisfactory set, but nothing to write home about from an AFOL perspective. It fails my assessment in terms of value because, while it has a decent value per brick, it doesn't actually give much build time relative to the cost. The build itself is sort of hit and miss in terms of design as well. You get a lot of re-usable bricks, but the set is not a keeper in my mind. However, from a kid's point of view, this set might be a lot of fun. There are great characters, and there is enough semblance to the film that you can re-enact many scenes from the movie.

I think this is not a bad set on the whole, but it's not without its flaws. The Lockwood Manor itself looks nice on the outside but the inside is really really shallow and hard to play with, and the side wings are almost completely empty which is really lame. The minifigure selection is nice and the Indoraptor will be a big draw, but it would have been nice to get one or two more main characters like Benjamin Lockwood. I think the price is okay though – the inclusion of two big molded dinosaurs (Blue and the Indoraptor) helps to justify it.

In all, 75930 Indoraptor Rampage at Lockwood Estate makes for an interesting part of the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom range, but, in spite of its price, it doesn't quite hit the high marks that a centrepiece set at the highest price point should. It suffers from the same compromises as the rest of the range – priority is given to the dinosaurs at the expense of a substantial build.

The Brothers Brick

With very few interesting minifigures, a deeply repetitive and uninteresting build, and nothing but a made-up dinosaur for its primary creature, 75930 Indoraptor Rampage at Lockwood Estate has very little to recommend it to adult builders and collectors. The one highlight of the set resulting from all that repetition is that it includes 20 of the fairly new and relatively hard-to-find scrollwork brick. But beyond this one cool piece in a higher quantity, the rest of the set isn't a great parts pack either, consisting primarily of larger pieces like plates and panels (plus lots of windows).

I am somewhat disappointed by this set. The minifigure selection is excellent and the dinosaurs are thoroughly impressive, as we have come to expect of the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom subtheme. However, Lockwood Estate itself is definitely lacking in detail and offers surprisingly little play value for such a substantial model, especially on the inside where there is very limited space to place minifigures.
