Diagon Alley

This is one heck of a set. It took a long time to build, but I enjoyed every minute of it. It's chock full of detail and is just enormous! I would have loved to have seen Gringott's Bank included, but the buildings they have got are superbly executed. more less

Certainly a bit on the pricey side, but - in this reviewer's opinion - very well worth every penny! The level of detail is almost on par with the Expert Modular series (which is what drew me to this set in the first place) and includes some more 'advanced' building techniques usually seen in more adult oriented Lego sets. An "expert" builder (somebody who regularly builds Expert sets without difficulty) could easily finish this set in around a day -- the piece count is a bit misleading since there are plenty of very small pieces to construct minuscule details. One of the BEST features of this set was the ability to "team build" it. Since the set comes with four distinct buildings, each with their own books, my wife and I were able to divvy up two buildings each and had a blast sharing!! Overall, tremendous set - highly recommended; even by somebody like me, who is not a Harry Potter fan! more less

As a LEGO® build, Diagon Alley (75978) is worth the purchase. The price tag is high, but you get a lot of bricks, build time, and Minifigure accessories for the cost. Additionally, the designs of the buildings are amazing. more less

I had a magical time building this set while rewatching all the movies and the end result looks amazing. It's a great combination of scenes from different movies to give you a timeless recreation of this iconic location from the world of Harry Potter. The fact that you can easily integrate it with the modular buildings is a nice option and finding the secret bonus set inside was a very peasant surprise. more less

Every aspect of design is carefully considered, every brick included is needed, and every possible detail relating to the story, characters and location has been captured in 75978 Diagon Alley. In many ways, it's just like every other LEGO Harry Potter set for achieving that, but, on a truly massive and unique scale. more less

Diagon Alley is a great set. I had a lot of fun while building. The shops are often just bricks on bricks, but with enough details and interesting techniques sprinkled in to make it an entertaining build. Especially if you are into Harry Potter, the shops bring back the memories from the movies and the scenes that werw played there. Here and there the set has minor flaws, but I feel like there are also exceptionally good sections to make up for it. Whether it's worth the £369.99 / US$399.99 is hard to say. That's just a lot of money, but you will also get a lot of bricks in return. more less

With a light heart, I can recommend it to anyone — to a LEGO fan, to a Harry Potter fan, to a child, to an adult, or anyone else. Finally, it's a set that you let you kind of ignore the price tag. Yes, it $400 in the US, but actually a collection of highly-detailed] themed buildings for less than $100 each, plus an exclusive collection of 14 minifigures, four of which can't be found in any other LEGO set. And, hey, there's even a surprise box! more less

Almost one hundred Harry Potter sets have become available since 2001 and 75978 Diagon Alley is undoubtedly among my favourite examples! Each building includes exceptional detail and demonstrates tremendous accuracy when compared with the movies. The distribution of references throughout the set is equally enjoyable, although I believe there are some missed opportunities for even more. more less
